珠海市第一中学创办于1960年8月，是广东省首批省一级学校，全国首批现代教育技术实验学校，广东省首批国家级示范性普通高中，学校先后被评为“全国文明单位”、“全国精神文明建设先进单位”、“教育部首批依法治校示范校”、“教育部和谐校园先进学校”、“广东省先进集体”、“广东省职工职业道德先进单位”、“广东省科技教育先进集体”、“广东省安全文明学校”、首批“广东省青少年科技教育特色学校”、广东省首个“全国航空特色学校”、“广东省书香校园”、“珠海市群众满意学校”等。

学校师资力量雄厚，设施完善，校风纯朴，学风优良，环境典雅，是一所全面贯彻党的教育方针，办学成绩卓著的普通高中。学校拥有一支以本科以上学历为主，以高级教师为骨干的师资队伍，教师共计278人，其中特级教师4人，高级教师127人，有硕士研究生学历的88人，学校现有78个教学班，在校学生4300多人。

各级领导对学校关怀备至，党和国家领导人李长春、张德江等同志先后来我校视察工作，对我校的办学给予了很高的评价。同时，作为特区对外开放的窗口学校，学校每年接待上千名全国各地的中学校长、港澳地区及国外教育界许多人士来校参观访问。

学校积极构建具有校本特色的新课程体系，全力实施素质教育。以符合珠海教育区域特征又具有本校特色的优质内涵发展办学思路,实现“持续优质、特色鲜明、多元综合”的教育改革和发展的办学目标。在全校师生共同努力下，教育教学质量得到继续提高。学校学生管乐、合唱、航空航天、科技创新、生命科学等等四十六个社团活动精彩纷呈，并在国际国内的各级各类比赛中频频获奖。高考的辉煌成绩同样令全省瞩目，2004、2005年连续两年获得广东省高考总分状元，2008、2009年再次连续摘得广东省高考总分状元的桂冠，目前，在招生规模扩大，生源结构变化情况下，高考一本上线率上升到63%，二本上线率上升到98%，受到了省内外同行的广泛赞誉，学校连年获珠海市高考质量特别奖。完成了珠海人民交给我校培养特区的高质量后备拔尖人才的重任。

Zhuhai No.1 High School, founded in August 1960, has been awarded the first batch of First-grade School of Guangdong Province, National Experimental School of Modern Education Technology, and National Model Senior High School of Guangdong Province. Over fifty years of development has witnessed its constant efforts and remarkable achievements, earning such educational honors as National Civilized Unit, National Advanced Unit of Spiritual Civilization, First National Model School Managed by Law approved by the Ministry of Education, National Advanced School of Harmonious Campus, Advanced Collective of Guangdong Province, Provincial Advanced Unit of Staff Work Ethics, Provincial Advanced Collective of Science and Technology Education, Provincial Secure and Civilized School, First Provincial School Featured with Youth Science and Technology Education, First National School Featured with Aviation, Provincial Scholarly Campus, Zhuhai Citizens’ Satisfactory School and so forth.

With an outstanding teaching staff, advanced facilities, an excellent academic atmosphere and school spirit as well as fascinating campus views, our school has seen splendid achievements in education by strictly adhering to the Party’s education policy. Our faculty is comprised of 278 teachers, all of whom have a bachelor degree or above, including 4 teachers with special-grade titles, 127 with senior titles and 88 with a master’s degree. At present, the school is a boarding school with 78 classes and 4300 students.

Always showing meticulous care and bearing our school in mind, Li Changchun, Zhang Dejiang along with other Party and state leaders paid inspection visits to our school and thought highly of our running of the school. Meanwhile, as a window school in the special economic zone, our school received thousands of principals of secondary schools nationwide and educators from Hong Kong, Macao or overseas countries every year.

Over the years, based on the educational mission of “High Quality, Distinctive Characteristics and Modernization” and the core conception of “Aesthetic Education”, the school has been persistently striving to construct a teacher-centered and student-oriented, highly effective and standardized, excellent and harmonious culture, thus shaping an outstanding school culture with distinctive features, forming an edge in education with regional characteristics, and a teaching staff of high quality. With the tenet of bringing up young people who “enjoy learning, seek truth, excel at communication, and are bold in blazing new trails”, the school has attached great importance to the cultivation of morality, individuality and ability based on knowledge transmission and character-molding, and has been devoted to training excellent youths to be highly-qualified citizens with the capacity of sustainable development, positive attitudes towards life, passion for science, as well as with civilized and democratic qualities.

In order to achieve “excellent, distinctive and comprehensive” educational reform and development, great efforts have been made to carry out quality-oriented education by constructing school-based curriculum with distinctive features of our city and our school. As a result, under the joint efforts of the whole school, the teaching quality has been improved steadily. What’s more, to cater for students’ diversity, students can enjoy abundant activities outside class, including 46 student societies, such as symphonic band, chorus, astronomical society, scientific and technological innovation groups, and life science club and so on, which won various awards in different contests at home and abroad. It’s noteworthy that the students have a stunning performances in the National College Entrance Examination for many years. In 2004 and 2005, students in our school won championship in total score; and this amazing victory was rewritten in 2008 and 2009. Despite booming enrollments and the change in supply of students, more than 98% of the graduates were admitted to colleges or universities and 63% of them entered the key ones, which gained wide recognition from the society. Owning to its continuous splendid achievements, the school has been honored with Special Contribution Prize for NCEE Performance of Zhuhai for years. It has been a cradle for prestigious universities to select first class students, thus successfully accomplishing the task entrusted by local citizens.
